Meniscal Debridement

This procedure is performed for meniscal tears using keyhole surgery (arthroscopic surgery). As the meniscus is causing your symptoms and is not repairable the damaged part shall be excised. Care is taken to preserve as much normal meniscal tissue as possible.

Once the procedure is complete you shall be taken to the recovery area. Subsequently you shall then return to the ward. Once you have completely recovered from the anaesthetic you shall start walking on the same day and shall be discharged from the hospital a few hours after your procedure.

Meniscal Repair

This procedure is performed for meniscal tears using keyhole surgery (arthroscopic surgery). A number of factors can make your meniscal tear fit into the repairable category.

Once the procedure is complete a splint shall be applied to your leg and you shall be taken to the recovery area. Subsequently you shall then return to the ward. Once you have completely recovered from the anaesthetic you shall start walking on the same day with crutches. This splint shall be removed after 2 weeks after which you shall be allowed to bend your knee but not put weight through it for another few weeks.
