Quadriceps tendinopathy refers to disease of this tendon leading to pain just above the kneecap. This can be in the form of:

  • Tendinosis – degeneration of the quadriceps tendon due to chronic injury
  • Tendonitis - inflammation of the quadriceps tendon 

 

Diagnosis 

History & Clinical examination

MRI & Ultrasound Scanning may be required for further detail 

 

Treatment

  1. Non-operative: Physiotherapy with or without injection therapy including PRP* (platelet rich plasma)

  2. Operative treatment:  Operative treatment may be required in the form of  arthroscopic (keyhole) or open surgery
